Looking Back

This year has been an incredible year indeed, full of activities marking the centennial anniversary of the incorporation of the City of East Lansing. I sincerely hope that all of you have partaken in these activities and have felt the energy generated by this special celebration

Moving Forward

So how do we follow a year like 2007? Minus the fanfare of centennial celebrations, I expect East Lansing’s 101st year to be just as outstanding. We will certainly face our share of challenges as the state economy works to regains its health, however, I remain confident in our ability to continue to set the standard for quality of life in the region. I also believe that we “can’t lose” with partners like MSU and the award-winning East Lansing High School. No doubt, you will also hear more in 2008 about our regional partnerships with our Greater Lansing Area Neighbors.

Bottom line however, is that our greatest partner and asset is each of you who hold us to those high standards, and deservedly so. As you may know, our mission here at the city is to provide “Quality Services for a Quality Community” and we take this very seriously.

Best wishes to all for a safe, peaceful and joyous holiday season. See you next year!
